2006 Europe Trip
Paris
On Friday, Matt and Becky left Ireland for a weekend in Paris. Time to try out our limited knowledge of French!
Friday night, we walked around Notre Dame (it had closed to tours, however, so we didn't go in), did some walking to get our bearing on where we were (our hotel in the Les Halles area, not far from Notre Dame, the Louvre, etc.), had dinner (at a highly inadequate italian place - oh well...), then pretty much just collapsed after a long day.
The Champs Elysees & the Arc du Triomphe
After visiting Sacred Heart, we took the Metro to the Champs Elysees area.
Statue of Charles DeGaulle outside the Metro stop.
A view of the Arc de Triomphe from the road (stopped at a cross-walk).
Matt with the monument and world's largest traffic circle behind.

This one shows more of the traffic circle

Napoleon's Army getting off the bus - white flag ready
After seeing this area, we re-grouped then took a walking tour around the historic center of Paris -- which basically means around Notre Dame.
